Mike and Missy Wilson

As we all know, in early January a powerful earthquake struck Haiti's capital with withering force, toppling everything from simple shacks to the ornate National Palace and the headquarters of U.N. peacekeepers. The dead and injured lay in the streets even as strong aftershocks rippled through the impoverished Caribbean country.

A friend and former staff member at my church has had a ministry there for a number of years. Brent Gambrell Ministries has been working with the Haitian people and in particular, the orphans there. Mike and Missy Wilson, also former staff members at Two Rivers Baptist in Nashville, are a part of Brent's ministry and were in the process of adopting daughter Tia from the Carrefour Orphanage. After some time Mike and Missy Wilson were finally able to connect with Haiti and learned that Tia was safe. See the story HERE.

See: Miracles at Haitian Orphanage as 40 Children Survive Quake.   HERE is the story about the MTSU student that was with Tia and the other orphans.

Watch a video from just last week of little Tia as she sings "I have decided to follow Jesus" in Creole.
See story about the ministry HERE.

See the miraculous story of escape on NBC nightly news HERE.  Listen carefully to the first few words--Brent Gambrell was able to put a card in Brian Williams' hand --see what happened from there.  Talk about divine appointments!!  See the role that NBC played in getting Mike and Tia out of the country.  Praise the Lord for that and for the person who provided the private plane.  See Mike and Tia arrive in Nashville safely HERE. Tia at home with Mike and Missy HERE.

Many of us are skeptical about giving to the various fundraisers (especially after seeing how donations were misused after Katrina) but donations to the Brent Gambrell Ministries will go directly to help the people, especially all the orphaned children.
